Have you heard about Kindle Scout? For readers and authors alike.

How It Works

Kindle Scout is reader-powered publishing for new, never-before-published books. It’s a place where readers help decide if a book gets published. Selected books will be published by Kindle Press and receive 5-year renewable terms, a $1,500 advance, 50% eBook royalty rate, easy rights reversions and featured Amazon marketing.

That is pretty stinking interesting. I need to do more research into it because I don’t want to accidentally sign something that allows them to market to 3rd parties without paying the author. But it’s a very interesting idea.. Amazon breaking into publishing.

The problem I kind of have with this is: there are people who will turn this into a popularity contest. Friends, family… and the like making dummy accounts to boost their votes. unless they don’t know their nominated. Yes, more research is needed.
