We found the children….

The children are on the outskirts of town… in a town called (of all things) Surprise!

We found a Denny’s and went in to get lunch(ish) and lo and behold someone came in with 3 boys and like 6 adults. Within minutes the quiet was shattered and there were cries of Mommy… mom…. mommy! I wanna pizza! They quickly made paper airplanes out of their menus and began tossing them around. I was regretting leaving my camera in the car because I just knew one of those planes was going to end up in my food. The boys suddenly got up and went out the front doors without asking the parents and no one seemed alarmed.

There is a commercial where the song: Mama don’t let yer babies grow up to be cowboys plays and there’s 3 boys running amuck in the gas station while the mom is gassing up her car while another mom goes sailing by in her hybrid with 3 perfectly good angels in the back seat.

I started humming this and watching as the boys played outside and wondered when the parents were going to realize the children were missing. Hubby and I reminisced about when we took our son out to dinner and were mortified when he disturbed other diners. And we speculated that there might be a child barrier on our town… that teleported the children back home if someone attempted to bring such contraband into Sun City or maybe they have child catchers like in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The children are also found in the Walmart…. Where I also found people closer to my age and some great deals on clothes and a Barnes and Nobel… and lots of other stores I have not seen in a very long time. I came home about $80 lighter.. and I had a good time.

Kawanee was born in Alexandria Louisiana but her first real memories are of Russellville Arkansas. She's always loved to read, and has always had an vivid imagination. She grew up in a house where almost everyone read, they didn't need a TV although she could still be found planted on her butt in front of her grandma's TV watching cartoons on Saturday mornings. She made up her first story with her mother when her cat died; it was about where pets go when they die. She continued to create stories from bad dreams she had and her dad would help her change nightmares to stories. They would sit up in a chair until the scary went away. He told her that: "Dreams, good or bad, are just stories your mind makes up. You are the author of your dreams; if you don't like them rewrite them. " She was hooked and has continued to read and write stories drawing from dreams, sights and just pure imagination. She just recently decided she'd like to try and get published and fail than wonder what if. Her story continues but where it goes from here is up to you, the Reader... She hopes you'll join her in finding out where her journey goes from here!
