Okay, so some good news. Surgery is Friday and the guy I talked to was very nice and listened to my concerns. He assured me that the doctor is very good at what he does, he’s got great bedside manner and that I’ll love him.
I will be awake (boooo hiss) and it will likely be about 4 hrs for surgery and results to come back with clean margins. He also told me that they CAN give me something to relax during the surgery (yay!) AND I can have friends or relatives in the room with me as I need to. (Double yay!)
My mother in law had her surgery today to remove her basal cell carcinoma in her arm. Hers was much bigger than mine (about nickle sized) and she’s done very well with it and they got clean margins on hers. Her incision is about 2.5 inches long.. applying that math, mine should be about 1/2 to an inch long, so that’s not super awful. I guess it depends on where the cut goes, towards the eye and eyelid or down the side of my nose or across the bridge. Anyway… not super terrible… I think.
Anyway, my son and I start a new job on Monday… hopefully I’ll be up for it.
I may go out to Karaoke/Halloween party on Saturday… If I’m up to it, and I’m thinking of creative costuming to wear just in case I want to go.
Your slightly reassured,

How wonderful to hear a bit of good news. It may be only a small step but it’s a good one. I will say an extra prayer that your surgery goes well and for a speedy recovery. I also hope you do go to the Halloween bash, you deserve to smile. Hugs. xo

It’s not likely to effect you for long afterwards, based on my own – but you will likely need to keep it bandaged while it heals, if only for appearance’s sake, and you may develop a scar.
My surgery for melanoma was done in-office, and since it was on my back, I immediately resumed all normal activities but swimming and sweat-inducing exercise (but not because I wasn’t feeling “up to it.”)
Start thinking about what you will wear to that Halloween Party with that in mind. Go and have a wonderful time.
